A Gomer Pyle "Well, surprise surprise" moment. Pay attention to the timeline here, folks. All of the following references my iPhone 5.
Awoke at 3a ET this morning; couldn't get back to sleep. Hubby was working night shift, so I decided to clean out Contacts (dupes when I reconfigured from restore's Exchange to CardDav). Took roughly 20 minutes. ... Rechecked installed photography apps, to remind myself which did what -- another 5 minutes. ... Used EmailGanizer Pro on my business email account, to quick file & toss some items to Things, then processed the Things InBox. ... Did some other stuff, like rearranging folder contents.
We're now up to 4:05a ET. Just for the heck of it, I went into the App Store's Purchased area, fully awaiting the crash syndrome. Instead, after about 25 seconds of that blasted twirling wheel, the page filled, with not-on-my-iPhone apps. Mind you, I've been downloading apps since the Store launched in the summer of 2008, so we're talking hundreds of apps. No crash! Decided to press my luck. Worked my way down through the list, opting to download about a dozen. Still, no crash. It wasn't until I was toward the end of the list that a crash materialized.
FYI: I had arranged a call back from Apple, which occurred Monday night. Basically, zippo in terms of relief. Got the standard "server/WiFi issues" line. But, I'm beginning to believe it. At 4-ish a.m., the East Coast is asleep, and the West Coast has calmed down as well. So, while I certainly won't advocate setting an alarm for this purpose, if you happen to get bitten by the insomnia bug one night, try it.
Didn't try this on my iPad 2 yet, b/c the SleepyTime bug finally got me.
