App Store not showing updates available on Dock icon

I've noticed since installing 11.4 that the App Store icon no longer shows the number of app updates on the icon in the Dock. Is this a bug with 11.4, a "feature" of 11.4, or do I have a problem with the OS?

Also, I've noticed that when I manually check for app updates, the App Store will no show any updates, but (as an example) the next day I'll get a notification that I have app updates and when I go to do the updates some of them are as much as 2 weeks old? Again, bug or "feature"?

TBH, I can't recall the last time I remember seeing a badge number notification on the App Store Dock Icon. Before macOS 11.4 for me for sure.
