As of yesterday (2/11/12), I cannot download apps to my iPad as it directs me to the account info. My credits card and address data are munged - mixed up with my mother's, who lives 5000 miles away, and who has never been on my user account or my iPad. However, using the same Apple user account, I CAN still download free and paid apps with my iPhone.
I am trying to get an answer from Apple as to whether this is a database issue with them, or something screwy with my iPad alone (I'm thinking it has to be them, or why would some of my mother's info appear in my address fields?). I am afraid of fixing the data on my iPad until I can be sure that I am not handing over my credit card info to a hacker.
Apple app billing tech support has been useless so far, providing me with a stock and wholly irrelevant cut 'n' paste answer about checking with family members to see if they have made unauthorized purchases.
Can anyone give me advice as to
(1) Why my account data is munged (but not the iPhone data); and
(2) Whether it is safe to update the munged data on the iPad.
Thanks.
