is there an app for this? that can convert my DVD's ripped as .iso files for playback on portable devices like ipads, ipods, & other tablets PCs? something lke a universal portable playback format?

& what video & audio settings would be best?

or do I have to re rip all the discs into a different format? I would like to know before I put all my DVD's back by my TV, so I dont have to go get them all out over again.

HandBrake, just double click the .iso files and then in HandBrake select the DVD visible in the Sidebar in the OPEN dialog.
Also have a look at that other, very similar thread of yours for an answer.

That part is so tough. You might strain yourself actually..

Yes I guess it is, but I like to be efficient with my time & effort, I dont see anything wrong with that, when I am doing something like archiving, I prefer to do it once & thats it.
