Is it possible (with an app or any method) to use my ipad as a midi keyboard for my mac air (not wireless like with piano pro). Like having both garagebands sync so that when I play something on the piano portion on the iPad, my mac air can record it? Seems like this is impossible at the moment though. Just wondering if there is some way to do this(wired though, not wireless) .

Look into RTP/USB. I think that's what you're after.
I just load my sounds/loops and play on my iPad, and use a headphone jack cable to record to my DAW. But I know that you might not want that.
