I have some relatives staying with me while they get back on their feet. They claim to be job / apartment hunting but I get the impression they are not doing that at all and may even be using my internet for illegal activities like downloading movies. I've already received a notice from Comcast about downloading copyrighted material and discussed it with my relatives.

Is there an app for OS X that I can use monitor their web connection? I am particularly interested in what websites they are going to.

Thank you

Does your router have logging? Some will log ALL internet traffic and tell you what computers are requesting the page.

You need to have something set up at the router level since your computer has no idea what's going on within your network. As hallux stated you need to enable some level of logging at your router.

Another option is to use OpenDNS, if you use them for your DNS servers they'll report on the domain and IP address your computers visits. I use OpenDNS for the providing parental controls at the DNS level - much harder to circumvent then setting up parental controls at the computer level.

Yeah I ended up set up logging on my router and even though it doesn't keep that many logs it was enough for me to confirm my suspicions. The logs were also not www URLs but IP addresses, which I copied into my browser to see what kind of sites they are visiting.

I did use OpenDNS a while ago, might look into it again. From my understanding it only shows the IP addresses as wel. I know it is capable of blocking content; would it be possible to show a custom message if I choose what category of content to block? :D
