First the background. I have an extensive collection of audio files (mostly m4b - bookmarkable, but some mp3). These are not, strictly speaking, audiobooks as they don't have chapters. Mostly they are off-air recordings or downloads of comedy and drama programmes. The length of these programmes is around 30, 60 or 90 minutes each. The files are in the iCloud folder, thus available to play from an iCloud connected device. Each file has embedded metadata such as a cover picture, title of the programme (may be different from the filename), description, episode and series info, and so on.

So I'm looking for an app that has just two requirements: can stream without prior downloading and can display the metadata. But I've been able to find anything that will do these two things. (Perhaps there is another desirable, but not essential, requirement - indicate which ones have been played.) I keep coming back to try again every few months to see if there is anything new. My recent search has not found anything.

Can anyone suggest an app that will do these things? Cost is not a problem - I'm willing to pay well for something that does the job properly.

For information I have tried the following: Apple's File app - streams OK but no metadata is displayed; Documents by Readle - insists on downloading before playing. Not too much of a problem as they will be auto removed as required. But no metadata. The Bound app - requires downloads but does have some limited metadata. I've tried loads of others but cannot remember them all.

I'm not sure if it will work, but try VLC. I know their desktop version has a very wide support for various formats, including bookmarks - and it's free.
