App to sync between folders

Hey guys,

I'm a proud owner of a new MacBook, and I'm loving it.

What I'm having problems is that I also currently own a mid 2007 iMac.

Is there an app were I can choose what folders, and files I can sync over a local wifi network?

I currently have Dropbox setup to sync file between home and work, but I don't want to have to chew my internet bandwidth up syncing folders, between 2 computers sitting next to each other.

Any ideas

Edit: and if it can be set up to sync Safari bookmarks, Address Book contacts, iCal events, preferences, widgets etc.. that would be so much better

I searched SYNC, in these forums.

And it came up with just about every mac, ipod, and iphone topic.

Could you be a little more specific?

Try Chronosync. I use it to sync my Mac Pro and MacBook. It has worked well for years.

Hey, I got Chronosync the demo.

How can I set up so I dragg my home folders in each, but not sync my library, music or download folder.

It has been a while since I have done it (everything is run automatically now) but you can put together a series of syncs in a 'container' that is then run on a scheduled basis. Check out the Econ homepage's overview for Chronosync. It is quite an app.

In theory it doesn't do that - if both computers are on the same LAN it syncs content directly between them.
