It took 2 levels of escalation of a question I posed in a LiveChat today. I'd opened this URL:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/resound-smart-3d/id1134918918
On the page I could see only 3 Ratings & Reviews. It took a senior advisor to explain that access to only 3 using anything but an Apple device to log into Apple is 'by design' because navigating the 'store' is highly dependent on proprietary software accessible only on an Apple device. The app in question is 'free' but the devices it controls are expensive. To one who is not 'a true believer' this seems very short sighted and even patronizing.
Imagine a scenario where reviewing a product on Amazon depended on your using a proprietary Amazon device. If reviews of all software applications were so inaccessible, far fewer of us would be using computing devices the way we do.
The emperor has new clothes, aren't they magnificent?
