I have APP2, which I have synced to my phone and connects to other Apple devices through iCloud. I am running into a repeated problem where I put in one or both AirPods to try and play something from my iPhone, but instead of connecting to my iPhone, it will connect to my wife's iPhone or computer, even when she is in another room in our house. This frequently happens when I put it on in the car and she is in the passenger's seat. What is strangest about this, is my iCloud account is not on her phone or the Mac user accounts which it connects to. In other words, even with my phone in my hand in front of me, my AirPods are connecting to devices which are not mine and do not have my account info or iCloud in them.

Tonight the same thing happened twice with my son's iPhone, once in my car and once when he was in another room in my house. Like my wife, except for family sharing of Apple One, my iCloud account is not on his phone. This is getting annoying because my phone is literally IN MY HAND when the Airpods connect to someone else's device. Anyone else have this happen or a fix? TIA.

Check your wife and son's devices and see if your AirPods appear in their Bluetooth settings. If they do, try forgetting them.

If they keep reappearing after you try forgetting them, you need to tap the (i) next to the AirPods in the Bluetooth settings, then tap "Connect to this Device" and switch from "automatically" to "when last connected." You need to do this on every single device your family has, unfortunately.
