Is there any way to change the appearance of Safari? My eyes aren't what they used to be and the gray background with black lettering would be better with another color combo. The Appearance tab in Safari preferences only allows changing of font size.

You can use the Quickstyle extension to add CSS changes to any page. It is not always obvious how to get the desired result, but with a little Googling about CSS I have managed to tweak some pages to make them look how I want.

What grey background are you referring to? A specific web site?

I think he means theming Safari, so the grey stuff and the black fonts on top are different, not the actual sites content.

I kind of thought that too, but his comment about seeing font size in prefs made me think maybe he means sites also?

True.

There is always the high contrast option which can be set in accessibility Preferences or by using the keyboard shortcut but then all colours are also different.

Another option you have is Firefox which has thousands of themes for their skin. Not the same browser as Safari but works fine for the most part.

You can change Safari on iOS to an attractive dark theme by enabling Private Browsing in settings. I usually leave it like that mainly for that reason.
