I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.5 on a Power Mac G4. It's been running perfectly fine until today, when I was simply typing something out in TextEdit and the screen went completely black. The power light is still on like usual and everything works perfectly fine. The screen just remains blank. I tried unplugging the monitor, I tried putting the computer to sleep, but nothing happens. Any ideas?

EDIT: The display is one of the older ones, with the white frame and the transparent base around it. It's a beautiful display, even though it is a bit outdated.
