Well I'm debating whether I should go for an HDTV or the Apple Cinema display. If I go for the television it will be a plasma. Right now I have a 15" unibody MBP and I watch blu-ray movies in bootcamp with an external drive. From everything I read, the unibody and new 24" display pass the HDCP test so play blu-ray movies this way works just fine.
One thing I noticed was that blu-ray movies on a plasma look way better than the MBP's screen. I'm not talking about screen size either, I'm talking about colors. The color on the plasma made the colors on the 15" look completely washed out.
I'm wondering what the picture quality on a 24" compares to a plasma television. Obviously the plasma will be bigger but the display has a bit more utility and I'll be closer to it on my desk as well.
So simply in terms of picture quality, ignoring size, how does the new 24" display compare to a mid-range plasma television? How does color accuracy look and more importantly, what kind of ghosting or motion blur is seen because of the slow response time of the lcd?
