Apple's online store shows the 3 meter cable with a "Coming Soon" status. Do we have any other hints on that one besides "Soon(tm)"? I have a specific need for a longer Tbolt cable, and I'd like to avoid the $360 15-foot optical one if I can.
It was previously mentioned on the apple site when the mac pro was released in 2019, but then mysteriously disappeared. No one at apple support knows anything either.
Oh interesting, so you don’t expect them to be released until June.My suspicion is that, according to the thunderbolt 4 docs released by Intel saying that longer cables would come out June of this year, they're under some sort of agreement to not release until then
when do you plan on buying?I can guarantee you that the very day after I receive the Corning cable, Apple will release their 3M copper one. That's just how my luck works. ;-)
Edited: Better stated: the day after the return window expires...
I like your idea if 15 April, but haven't completely committed to it yet. Perhaps I'll be committed before that. ;-)when do you plan on buying?
I ended up buying a corning cable, I'm using it right now with the Apple Studio Display, it works great!when do you plan on buying?

haha yeah, they're nearly all the same price, 15ft,30ft,50ft,164ft, the length isn't the expensive part, the usb c ends are hand assembled and have to be within a few micrometers of tolerance.I've no doubt it works as intended. But at $360 for a 15-footer... that's a bit much. I understand the tech involved, but that still doesn't ease the, "HOLY CRAP!!" response.
Have you pulled the trigger on the corning yet or still waiting?I like your idea if 15 April, but haven't completely committed to it yet. Perhaps I'll be committed before that. ;-)
I have it. Works wonderfully. And it didn't trigger Apple to release the 3M cable, which is a complete surprise.Have you pulled the trigger on the corning yet or still waiting?
