We have three iPod Touches. They are only and rarely connected to the internet for software updates. We do not purchase any content from iTunes. All content is loaded locally being either Loss Less audio files or teachings converted from MP3s. All three of them have required inputing Apple ID information after being plugged into the wall while in Airplane Mode. Please be advised that if there is a WiFi router that your iPod has been connected to in the past which is with in reach of your iPod, Apple has access to your iPod even if it is in Airplane Mode. Apple has also pushed Two Step Identification to our iPods while in Airplane Mode too. Scary stuff. There is no privacy anymore. Big Brother is here.

Um. If there's no wifi connection, no one can see or access your device, including Apple.

I just tried the 2 factor authentication while on Airplane Mode, and it didn't show up on my iPod. :p
