Apple today announced the addition of "Ultimate Rivals" from Bit Fry Game Studios to its Apple Arcade gaming service.

Ultimate Rivals is a sports game franchise that brings athletes from hockey, basketball, football, and soccer into one video game, which Apple says is a first in sports gaming.

The first title in the franchise, "Ultimate Rivals: The Rink," allows players to choose from more than 50 athletes to compete in two-on-two hockey matches. There are licensed athletes from the NHL, NBA, NFL Players Association (NFLPA), MLB, WNBA and the US Women's National Soccer Team Players Association (USWNTPA), plus retired legends like Wayne Gretzky.

Different combinations of players will unlock unique ways to play and win against the AI or other gamers in online multiplayer matches. According to Apple, the game features 60 frames-per-second graphics, tight controls, leading-edge visuals, and sound design.
"With Apple Arcade, we are committed to delivering a curated catalog where every title offers players a new, innovative experience that pushes the boundaries of what a game can be. The 'Ultimate Rivals' franchise does just that," said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. "'Ultimate Rivals: The Rink' is a great new addition to Apple Arcade and we are excited for everyone to try it out."
Ultimate Rivals: The Rink is available today on Apple Arcade, and it will be followed by an NBA licensed basketball game "Ultimate Rivals: The Court" in the spring of 2020.

Good to see Apple getting people off their phones and outside playing sports. Is that right?
Strange you're not complaining about Steam, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo... Aren’t those platforms much more popular than Apple Arcade? They must be much more responsible for people sitting inside and playing games, instead of outside playing sports. Right?

Another game that really should support local multiplayer on Apple TV but doesn't.

For sports games in particular, nothing beats the experience of all sharing the one screen. :)

They are software manufacturers. Apple make the infrastructure for our zombie society as our populace walk in stunned fashion staring into the abyss of the Gorilla glass. A legacy of inert stasis physically and mentally. Do you see? If not. Ask Siri

Does that trigger you? There’s so many great games available for free or even a one time fee. Everything doesn’t need to be a subscription model.
Free games w/ no ads or iap???
How’s that work? The devs are all independently wealthy and now like working for free?
Seems unlikely.
Maybe you could name 2 or 3?

I never said there were no iap or ads in free games. Developers have to get paid somehow, I’m just not getting into a subscription to play games on my phone/iPad. COD mobile is completely free to play with no need to buy anything. Asphalt 8/9, NBA 2K mobile (even though I bought NBA 2K20). There’s so many AAA titles available for free or one time purchase that there’s no need for Apple Arcade (for me). Why do you care if I don’t see anything on the service worth paying $5/mo for?

Why do you care if I find $5/mo cheaper than the “one time purchase” of a bunch of individual games??

Does that trigger you?

Who said I care if you do. I initially said I don’t see any games worth paying $5 a month for. I can care lol less what you spend your money on. You’re the one that said something slick about coffee then started rambling about IAP’s and ads. My comment was about me not seeing value in Apple Arcade. If you do pat yourself on the back cuz I don’t care about you. Some people are really strange man 😂

Do you happen to have any suggestions for good multi player games? Thinking of giving a subscription as a Christmas gift for a (casual gamer) for a 12 year old & just sizing up the the selection of games...

Indeed some people are!!! ;0)

I wasn’t even the person that said “something slick” about coffee, lol.
You’re so worked up into a frothy tizzy you can’t even keep straight who you are talking to, or what was said!!! Lol.
Haha, never have I been more relieved that someone doesn’t care about me... it was genuinely worrying me how over the top concerned you seem to be about how anyone that doesn’t acquiesce to your exact same line of thought must be “triggered” & all the other self-congratulatory pomp and circumstance.
Not surprising AT ALL that patting oneself on their back was a solution that popped into mind for ya.

Anyways.
To your point: Apple Arcade is a reasonable deal for anyone that would consider purchasing even one single $5 game, once a month.
I personally, kinda think that I’ll likely subscribe for 3 months or so... give it a rest- then check out the new content several months later.
If you’ve already spent a few hundred dollars purchasing every AAA game out there; I certainly understand if you wouldn’t want/need this for yourself! =)

That’s a weird way of saying you didn’t know Sony makes PlayStation, Microsoft makes Xbox and Nintendo makes Switch, but ok.

Apple has a relatively small market share of the infrastructure for our zombie society, which you blame for keeping people from going outside to play sports. I don’t think Apple Arcade is the hobby horse you want to ride if you want the most bang for your buck.

Maybe a little less Black Mirror might be helpful? Real life is dystopian enough without further feeding your fears o_O

I know right? $5 is too much. I’d rather spend it on one coffee that lasts 12 minutes and play games with ads and in-app purchases.
Apple Arcade game don’t have adds or in app purchases but nice try.

So in conclusion you hate games with ads and purchases but refuse to pay a measly 5 bucks.

Thanks for proving that people make zero sense.
