Apple today adjusted its trade-in values for select devices in the United States, with reductions on iPad models, increased values for Apple Watch models, and changes to some Android phone values.

Gifting means you get nothing, not sure how that makes sense. Selling it is only going to get you a little more and you have to deal with the hassle of selling it.

The point of gifting is to give something, not get.

Money is not an issue for me, but I would never get ****ed on a trade in by Tim Apple, on general principle alone. I'd rather give the item to a friend or family member, or donate it.

I feel the same way. Money isn't a concern for us, but I never trade any Apple devices in. I keep it long enough to recycle it or give it to someone. Their trade-in values are bunk.

What is trade in value for S6? My AW S6 screen popped out last evening. I still have Apple care, will have it replaced. I may get Ultra 2 Black in the future.

I would wait and see what they replace your S6 with.
I will get it replaced, I don’t think I will get anything for popped screen. I am in no rush to trade in, depends on what Apple replaces it with and how much I can get.

That screws you on BOTH ends then

Bad value for trade-in and you're stuck paying overpriced 1st party pricing on products nearly always available for way better deals at third parties
I recently traded an iPad at Best Buy. The new iPad was on sale but the trade in value was lower than Apple's, so I saved a little but not much. It's all about the cost of convenience, which has a real value to me. Selling an old device is too much hassle. I was in and out of Best Buy in five minutes with my new iPad and my trade-in refund.

If by "adjusts" you mean "reduces" you've got it right. Working for an Apple VAR, I found that selling used Apple equipment was FAR more lucrative than selling new. And I'm sure that's how it works for Apple, too.

Don’t do Apple trade-in unless you have no other choice

The values they offer are poor and then your money is trapped in Apple gift cards

(Still have $500 plus trapped in Apple gift card from doing a trade in several years ago)
I totally agree but that's precisely what I did. One thing you should add to that is when you pick, just the trade in for gift card route, you are getting taxed twice if you live in a State that has sales tax. When you use those gift cards on a purchase, they get added at the end but you are taxed for the full amount. Whereas if you trade in a device towards a purchase, that amount is applied and you get taxed on a lower amount. Apple is one of the few companies that still does that. Google, I know doesn't.

However I had no choice as I am now sitting on $500 in gift cards that I plan on using when Apple starts it's BF sales later this month on its website. I'm hoping they will offer gift cards and I will use the $500 in GC's on the base model M4 Mini. The reason I chose the trade-in's for GC's was that I gambled that my 9th gen iPad and base model M2 Mini would drop in value if I waited.

Curious to see they up the trade in value of some Apple Watches slightly. But overall they have lowered the value. Typical for Apple after new device releases.

I’m going to trade my Ultra 1 in a for a gift card to use towards my 17PM next year. I have a high yield savings account that I deposit money into biweekly for the 17PM, and that will be $290 less that I will need to deposit or that $290 will go towards AppleCare+.

Good to know. Very poor trade in values. Better to sell old devices somewhere else.
