I was having a discussion with a friend who said Apple uses older parts in its computers, something about waiting for the architecture releases from Intel or whatever. I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone is more informed than I am, but I thought Ivy Bridge was the newest set that's in Macs? Or am I missing something?

I'm not all that technical so I may be totally wrong from my searching, but it got me curious. If anyone could school me on how Apple actually does it, that'd be great as I think my friend is way off.
