Such unnecessary complexity! Apple lugs solve a problem that never existed. They could have just used standard 22mm pins and build a button in the case that compresses the pin allowing band release.

No, pins are fragile and require jeweler tools. The button would have to be on the side and ruin the case's looks. The Watch bands are awesome, easy to remove and add, way nicer than standard watches.
 
I can't count the number of times I've shot that stupid pin across the room and had to go hunting on the floor for it. I've even accidentally bent one. And that's only fussing with the band when I absolutely needed to replace it.

This system is the first I've seen that's simple enough for me to consider changing bands to fit a particular look.
 
PDF only shows schematics for Apple Watch. Will they not be making these for the Sport?
