Apple today announced it will be opening an all-new store at the La Vaguada shopping center in Madrid, Spain on Thursday, November 28.

To celebrate the occasion, Apple has released a special wallpaper for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac with a creative illustration of Apple's logo.

Apple La Vaguada will be the company's 12th store in Spain, and its first all-new location opened in the country in just over a decade. The official La Vaguada account today shared a short teaser video of the store's facade on Instagram Stories.

C'mon Apple.

Population of Spain is 48 million
Population of Finland is 5.6 million
Average income in Finland is substantially greater than in Spain

Yet, in Spain, one Apple store per 4 million people.
In Finland, 0 Apple stores for 5.6 million people.

I agree that is not fair for Finland to have 0 Apple stores, but Madrid (city and region) has lot of rich people and Apple makes their numbers and market statistics.
Still I don't understand why Portugal and Finland have 0 stores

In Belgium we have one Apple Store in Brussels! I hope every country in Europe with a good economy will have at least one Apple Store.

And Portugal with zero (official) Apple stores...
Knowing Portugal, I think its simply not their target population. It is also not necessarily a geographical hub with enough people movement to warrant it. Below average buying power can also add to it, and a very strong Android/Windows market share thus residual direct to consumer Apple devices sold. I would say most are bought via payment plans on mobile operators.

You will also not find one in East Europe with the exception of Türkiye.

That´s true. However, those numbers/preferences and that cultural mindset can change. Apple have the right marketing. One store in Lisbon in Avenida da Liberdade, the heart of luxury here; won’t hurt apple, but seduce new clients. (snowball effect).

Spain is being devastated by climate catastrophes. There's nothing more urgent than opening Apple stores and shopping malls?
BTW, my heart is with the victims in Spain 🫶.
Spaniard here, I really appreciate the support but I'd guess this is totally unrelated, it's not like Apple decided last week to open a Store. The announcement obviously is related to the Christmas season.

Three Apple Stores in the Netherlands: Amsterdam, Haarlem and The Hague. Not really up to Spain’s average, at 18 million people we deserve another Apple Store! Preferably near where I live!

What are the storms to do with Apple
"storms" have nothing to do with Apple.
I'm just saying that celebrating the opening of another Apple Store while several cities in Spain are desperately trying to recover, while

Hi - I don't pretend it's related. I just wanted to say that Spain has just been affected like rarely before. So celebrating the opening of another store seems totally futile to me, while hundreds of people are still looking for their loved ones and wonder how they will recover.
Also, in Spain like everywhere else, it may be time to ask why we need to open more stores and shopping malls. Consumerism is killing us. Just my 2 cents.

There is always that one … being offended by everything. Tell the Spanish people who got new jobs at Apple that they can wait one or two months because someone got offended on the internet.

Tell the Spanish people who are still looking for the bodies of their loved ones buried under tons of stinky mud that they should rejoice because a new Apple Store is about to open in Madrid...

I'm not "offended". It's just sad.

In Valencia, they have built so many shopping malls, so many parkings, so many everything that heavy rain cannot be absorbed anymore. Hundreds have died there. But we always need more malls, more stores...

Tim Cook wrote: We’re thinking of all those impacted by the devastating flash floods in the region of Valencia, Spain. Apple will be making a donation to help with relief efforts on the ground.
So may be YOU are offended because i just wanted to have a thought for the victims, right?

Population size is just one of the factors Apple considers. A major factor is demand. Apple has sales data from authorized resellers and its online store, so they know which countries and cities have the highest demand for their products.

Soy español. And I think you are mixing up different topics here. I may somewhat agree with the consumerism thing you brought out here, having spent myself circa €10.000 in Apple products in the last two years, but still, I don't see the connection with the floods. As somebody else told here, it's more about Christmas season.
