Accessible through the App Store, Apple Arcade is a subscription-based service that provides access to hundreds of games across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro, all free of ads and in-app purchases. In the U.S., Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month and is bundled with other Apple services in all Apple One plans.

The five new games coming to Apple Arcade on Thursday, May 1:More details about all five games are available on the Apple Newsroom website.

I wish Apple Arcade would just die
Here we go again. Every time there is an article about Apple Arcade we get a slew of sad sacks whining about the service. Absolutely feel free to not use it if you don't like it. Whenever my nieces come over to visit and steal my phone Apple Arcade makes sure they have a lot of fun games to play that don't cost me a fortune in in-app purchases. I think it's a great service and I hope it lasts a long time.

Those hating on this are simply not in the target demographic. Go look at the age rating for each title. They're all for 4yo and up. Apple realized there's a huge market of parents who won't allow standard app store garbage onto kid's devices, and so they served us up hundreds of decent options included with the monthly apple family plan.

Totally agree..! My kids and even I have a blast on the games offered.. There is plenty on tap and they are good games.. I also like there is no in game payment surprises... This was a smart move from apple..

If you don't like it can't you just unsubscribe from it? I don't think it's a mandatory service on Apple devices.
I want to buy one or two games that I can't buy for Vision Pro so If I wanted to play them I'd have to subscribe which sucks cus otherwise I don't care about the service. It's a bunch of phone game crap for the most part and I think it hurts the whole ecosystem.

The problem I have with Apple Arcade is that it more or less only leans to that demographic, especially as of the last five years or so. At least before there were some more "console class" game offerings. Now there seem to be very few such releases.

But I guess Apple is trying a bit, thinking of the few titles that get released on the App Store that are big game titles. Unfortunately they are more expensive than elsewhere (i.e. PC/Windows and consoles, well maybe not Nintendo) and to get graphics hardware that is decent one has to pay so much more for less compared to on the PC/Windows side.

I think this is the problem with gaming on MacOS; you need to pay so much more for graphics performance that is still inferior when gaming. But maybe we'll get closer with M5 and onwards. :)

It’s sad really, I am a part time gamer, have been for decades and I pay for Apple Arcade but dont even play one game on my iphone/ipad. I have tried quite a few but just dont find any of them fun. All style over substance and just what I expect from ‘free games’ - run a mile away..

Apple Arcade is a solution (I use that term lightly) to a problem Apple created. Decent games now hidden behind a subscription because Apple encouraged a race to the bottom which then became unsustainable.

Of course we have the right to complain about it.

Might try out a couple of these. Would like to see good quality games being added to Arcade.
