Apple Arcade will be getting two new games on February 1, including action game BEAST: Bio Exo Arena Suit Team and puzzle game Words in Progress. All games available on Apple Arcade are ad-free and do not offer in-app purchases.

Apple revealed the new titles in a press release:
On February 1, players can blast off on a cosmic adventure in BEAST: Bio Exo Arena Suit Team, a unique 3v3 online action game featuring animal heroes piloting powerful mechanized armors, and master Words in Progress, an intriguing new puzzle game.
Apple Arcade also added three new games this month, including Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom, Cornsweeper, and Blackjack by MobilityWare+.

Launched in November 2019, Apple Arcade is accessible through the App Store. The service provides subscribers with access to around 300 games on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, with new titles added periodically.

Apple Arcade received its first price increase in many countries last year. In the U.S., for example, pricing went from $4.99 per month to $6.99 per month.

Worse and worse! These games, although they might make sense on a mobile platform, require a rather expensive subscription. Therefore, it's always preferable to go for a Nintendo Switch or something similar. For iPhones, the games available on the regular Apple Store work just fine and are at the same level as these 'Arcade' games. As for Macs, the hardware is getting closer to an acceptable gaming level for AAA titles, but Apple keeps offering the same games that run on iPhones. Plus, it seems like Apple's exorbitant policies often annoy developers, as I often see games released on 'Arcade' only to be reintroduced on the regular App Store.

I gotta agree. The bottom of the barrel can't be too far off from these.
Having said that, I suppose different genre appeal to different people and options are better than no options.

The one major plus in the Arcade column is no ads, and no bs time-gating. You may or may not think that's worth the price of the subscription, but it's a honestly a breath of fresh air in the mobile gaming space. You download the game, you play the game, and that's it.

It would be great if they did something unique to the mac game space like a deal to add larian studio's back catalog to mac for apple arcade subscribers. i.e. divinity series rpgs.

Personally, I hate exclusives. It's really annoying when XBox and PS keep titles to themselves.

Is there 1 normal FPS game? I don't get the point of this.
Apple Arcade is the "We have video games at home" for every parent/family out there already in the Apple ecosystem and subscribing to Music, Fitness, and iCloud, that doesn't want to spend anything on video games for their kids.

It's too casual to be attractive on its own. But not so unattractive that it doesn't offer value to someone.

However, it's definitely worthless for anyone who's even just a smidge more than a casual gamer.

And even for casual gamers, Nintendo's many party and family games are so much better than what Apple offers on Arcade.

I think Vulkan isn't natively supported by Apple itself on macOS so a lot of devs don't have an incentive to develop for the platform. I know the Porting Toolkit is there but the question is will devs spend the time optimising for a Mac port when they could be working on DLC or bug fixes on the more profitable platforms (PC and consoles)?

I find the thing it’s best for is kids. At least with Arcade you can give them a set of games they can play without worrying about anything crazy popping up.

The games themselves are great if you’ve never had an iPhone before. But if you played all these when they first came out there’s not a whole lot original.

The two in the article do appear to be new games, at least to me, so that’s progress.

They know what they’re doing making it an automatic family plan. I bet there are tons of parents who tried it out for themselves but kept it for their kids.

Yeah, that too. Some of the ads are very questionable. Good point.

those are old games, what would be exclusive about it?

Never felt better about my decision to cancel Apple One after the price increase. Arcade is pure mediocrity, but to be honest, I always got the same "blah" feeling about TV+, Music (lame curation/recommendations), and Fitness+ (hope you don't care about progress and want to do the same beginner-level workouts over and over). Let's not even discuss the flaming trash heap of News+.

unique in terms of game subscription value not new properties. Notice 'back catalog'

Yes, but if the back catalog isn't currently for sale, (I don't know if it is), then it's an exclusive.

Does anyone subscribe to Arcade on stand-alone basis? I have Apple One and this comes with it so I don't find much problem, but I wish Apple gives us option to switch Arcade with News.

Would like to see more games added to Arcade. But decent selection of games are available now.
