The premium Subway Surfers+ edition on Apple Arcade will offer the same run as the classic game, but without in-app purchases and ads. As a result, there will be new ways to revive your character, collect items, and progress.

A spin-off game Subway Surfers Tag was already released on Apple Arcade in 2022.

The other four games coming to Apple Arcade on December 4:In addition, the popular Apple Arcade game Sneaky Sasquatch recently launched a massive farming town in the game.

In the U.S., Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month, and it is also bundled with other Apple services in all Apple One plans.

Apple Arcade can be accessed through the App Store, and in the Apple Games app.

Imagine a world where Apple required all games on iOS to have some form of "pay once and own it -- no ADs, no further IAP" option..

Instead we get this 👇

And Apple's solution that is "good for consumers" is to hawk their OWN service with an ongoing, never ending fee.

Can we please stop pretending Apple is all about what is best for the consumer?

i must be out of the loop, but ive never once heard of "the world's most downloaded mobile game" subway surfers
You probably are. My kid started playing it when she was five, 13 years ago. Her and her boyfriend dressed as the characters for Halloween last year and out of 100 trick or treaters, there were two other couples that came as those characters. This year there were no Subway Surfers but two groups of more than 6 kids each dressed up as Korean and Japanese anime characters that I had no clue about. I'm out of that loop..

Internet people like you in current model: ”it’s baaaad, every developer selects the type payment which I don’t like"

Internet people like you if Apple changed the model: ”it’s baaaad, every developer should be able to select the type of payment they want"

The EU would regulate them out of the region for that. Not even a question of “if”. EU companies LOVE their AD and IAP revenue.

I think both models should be allowed, but a "pay once, no ADs, no IAP" option should be enforced by Apple.

Why?
It's good for their customers.

That's exactly the type of benefit we are supposed to get with Apple controlling the whole operation here.

But is it good for developers? Apple has to find the balance between these two groups.

Subway Surfers? Really? That thing was somehow "trendy" when I bought my first iPad some 15 years ago...just bury that Apple Arcade corpse already.

Not only has Apple created, single-handedly, the disgusting IAP market; it STILL doesn't make it possible to search for NON-IAP apps/games in its store.

Wait these are...ACTUALLY DECENT GAMES?!

I'm surprised! I'm used to seeing forgettable titles on these lists. Cult Of The Lamb is one of my favorite games to play on the Steam Deck and in general! I highly recommend people play it!!!

Powerwash Simulator and Subway Surfers aren't bad either. The other two are forgettable to me though lol.

Yet another "not actually good for their customers" move they've made and stuck with.
I really don't understand how we overlook some of this and hail Apple as "looking out for what's best for customers".

They are looking out for their own wallet, like all these companies.

Who pretends that? Other than the boot lockers and engagement farmers on this forum & twitter

No entity on earth loves IAP more than Apple. None.

Oh there are other entities that love it more, they just haven’t figured out how to replicate it at Apple’s scale. But they’re working on it!

Don’t forget, IAP’s began on the PC (and still enjoy a VERY hefty business there!).

IAP’s were created single-handedly, with Bethesda’s Horse Armor pack. Apple was just a beneficiary after those companies decided to bring what worked on the PC to mobile platforms.

TIL Powerwash Simulator is coming to iOS. It's a surprisingly satisfying game and I have an embarrassing number of hours on PC / Steam Deck.

Also, Powerwash Simulator 2 just came out on PC, so I guess Apple Arcade is only 3-4 years behind now...

Subway Surfers is a nice addition. Not impressed with any of the others. Still cannot recommend subscribing to the service.
