Apple today announced that three additional games will be added to the Apple Arcade library on Thursday, September 4, including new NFL and Jeopardy! titles.

Just in time for the start of the upcoming NFL season on September 4, NFL Retro Bowl '26 features authentic NFL players and rosters with retro styling. In this year's version of the game, there is a new Retro Bowl Championship Leaderboard that tasks players with competing against each other in weekly matchups, in line with the NFL schedule.

Jeopardy! Daily brings a version of the beloved quiz show to Apple Arcade across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro.

The third new game coming to Apple Arcade next month is My Talking Tom Friends+, which lets kids care for virtual pets and more.

In addition, many existing Apple Arcade games like Hello Kitty Island Adventure and Disney Dreamlight Valley Arcade Edition will be receiving updates next month with refreshed in-game content, according to Apple.

Apple Arcade is a subscription service that provides access to hundreds of games across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro. All of the games are free of ads and in-app purchases. In the U.S., Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month, and it is also bundled with other Apple services in all Apple One plans.

Apple Arcade can be accessed through the App Store, and in the new Apple Games app.

I know complaining about this service is a cliché. But wow, this is embarrassing. It's luck for Apple that there are some good games in the back-catalogue, such as Vampire Survivors and Balatro, but I wonder which games got retired to make space for My Talking Tom Friends+?

When I look at Apple Arcade games, I think Apple should licence all the Sega Master System games. This way there would be no need to create new "retro" games. This would give Apple Arcade a whole bunch of simple and fun games to play and I suppose licensing would cost less than what Nintendo would ask for (they wouldn't want to licence anyway) or what it would cost to develop a bunch of new "retro" games.

Retro Bowl is a simply fantastic reimagining of Tecmo Bowl, as someone noted above. It has consumed many, many hours of my time over the years. I never used the Apple Arcade version, though, since I don't think it's possible to port my progress. Hopefully that will be different with this new version.

I'll stick with Retro Bowl I already bought, personally.

Great game, but I'd never pay a subscription just to have some roster and uniform updates (can barely see/tell any of that detail on a pixely game anyhow).

Techmo Bowl from the NES?

I played hours, and hours, and hours of that!

Not sure whether the NFL game is available worldwide or only in the US. Anyway not impressed with the additions to Arcade.
