Apple Arcade received five more games today, including endless runner Subway Surfers, the world's most downloaded mobile game. Since its launch in 2012, the game has received billions of downloads across all platforms.

The premium Subway Surfers+ edition on Apple Arcade offers the same run as the classic game, but without in-app purchases and ads. As a result, there are new ways to revive your character, collect items, and progress.

A spin-off game Subway Surfers Tag was already released on Apple Arcade in 2022.

The other four games added to Apple Arcade today:Apple Arcade is a subscription service that provides access to hundreds of games across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro. All of the games are free of ads and in-app purchases. In the U.S., Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month, and it is also bundled with other Apple services in all Apple One plans.

Apple Arcade can be accessed through the App Store and Apple Games apps.

Why are the graphics so bad in these games? They usually look like they could have run fine on 2010 phones/iPads. We get these much-touted insane leaps in graphics horsepower, but the games stay the same. (I clicked on PowerWash Simulator)

These games continue to be lame. I don't know anyone who cares about Apple Arcade. They need to step it up or drop it.

Does who you know define what is good and bad? When's your next party? I'd like to attend. 😜

If you're expecting Apple Arcade to offer top-shelf FPS-type games that are found on other platforms, you'll be waiting a while. Blood-thirsty FPS games are a partial contributor to the state of today's unhealthy mental development. I'm glad that Apple doesn't partake in their distribution.

There are major exceptions, but most of the Apple Arcade use I see is my own younger kids and nieces/nephews playing on hand-me-down devices, so Apple might be afraid to drop support for older devices and increase graphics requirements/etc.

Subway Surfers doesn’t hit the same without being plastered with captions and edits in short form brainrot

The opinions of people I know does help me get a better sense of what people think about the service and confirms some of my own feelings. Most of these games seem suited for either very young children, or older folks who only game occasionally while sitting an airport or whatever. Everyone in-between seems to find the titles on AA to be underwhelming and not worth paying for as an independent subscription.

Bottom line, Apple needs to stop waisting time with some of these mediocre, half-baked products. If you're gonna do it, do it right.

Subway Surfers? Welcome to 2015.

The sentiment is correct apple needs AAA games to come to Apple Arcade and iPad and Mac specifically. Control being announced for iPad is a really good sign. Hopefully we see Assassins Creed Shadows and CyberPunk in the first quarter of 2026 as well. After those games we need a lot more though.

Honestly, I might re-subscribe just for this. Subway Surfer's privacy nutrition label is egregious.

Doesn't take much to entertain folks, I guess. We need some AAA titles rather than all these lame games. Would be nice to be able to play without having to have an internet connection. That drives me nuts!

I came here to see people call Cult of The Lamb trash and I was not disappointed

Guess everything looks like junk when you don’t know videogames and one of the highlights of the article is “Subway Surfers”

PowerWash Simulator has inexplicably been a top performer on Xbox Game Pass for years and I think I saw it on the PlayStation equivalent as well. I’ve tried playing it and I just don’t get it. And I’m someone who enjoys power washing in actual real life as well. Maybe that’s why? In the game it just feels so lame cleaning virtual crap off of stuff.

Good addition. Have played this game in the past. Glad to see that there is an option now, due to Arcade without any in app/game purchases. Definitely one of the better additions on Arcade in the recent past.

Wait - that's the world's most downloaded mobile game ever? For real???
If so, hard to believe mobile gaming is even a thing. I guess I assumed it was something... More.
