Hey, I'm having an issue with the only Authorized Service Provider in my country. I've recently sent in a 2017 MBP 13 for repair. Long story short, they've replaced the screen and the bottom keyboard with the battery, but the MacBook's new display unit has a nasty scratch on the back of the aluminum casing when closed.

I've got screenshots of both the Mac before and after repair. In the protocol, they've stated the MacBook came with dents and scratches, which is probably there so they can cover themselves for legal reasons.

I've been literally babysitting the Mac as most of you. I was wondering if this is standard for a completely new LCD panel to have scratches (not on the display obviously, but the aluminum back).

I've messaged them and received no reply as of yet. Does anyone have a similar experience? Again, this was an official repair and I've not used any shady third-party repair shops that would void my warranty. The LCD is fine besides that horrid scratch.

Thanks

I take pictures before taking a rental car and after returning one. I think that I'd do the same with anything where I cared about the appearance. My 2015 MBP 15 has dents and scratches so it wouldn't bother me.

I have no personal experience with Apple service centers but generally with every other service centers with various products I have experienced more or less the same issue - the machine never comes back cosmetically the same condition as it was before, never! Also it usually does no good to complain either, as the reply is always more or less the same, this could not have happened at our service center...etc.

That's why I always try to avoid ending up in the situation where I need to take my machine there. I always try to make sure there is absolutely real hardware fault in the machine that I cannot solve myself first.
