Apple Backup problem

I'm using Backup 3.1.2/Tiger 10.4.11. When trying to backup up from an incremental the app refuses to load, and the backup plans have disappeared, too. I've dumped the prefs and was able to get a window that let me pick my file again, but it still will not load.
