And all people talk about is aesthetics. Sigh. Note too that many of the mockups of how the X should look minimize the size of all the tech inside the notch. It’s easy to mock up something in Photoshop that doesn’t actually have to be engineered. I love what someone said in the comments: “I was listening to The Vergecast this week and marveled at how tech journalism has turned into a clique of mean girls.”

No. They didn't. The Kinect fills a room. This does not. Now, it would be groundbreaking if Apple put these sensors on the REAR of the iPhone and actually gave them enough power to fill the space of a room or maybe even further. This is how AR will really make gains, when hardware gives the computer this information.
