Apple bluetooth keyboard f7-f12 dont work like they should

i just got a rocketfish bluetooth adapter for my powermacg5 and a apple wireless bluetooth keyboard from best buy. i had no trouble setting it up. accept the f7(previous/rewind) f8(play/pause), f9(fast forward), f10(mute), f11(lower volume) and f12(higher volume) dont work right. ive tried setting them up in system preferences but nothing seems to work. anyone please help??

 -> System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard -> Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys

Did you install the software for the keyboard (if any came with it)? Did you run software update to check for anything your computer has to have anything installed for the multimedia key input to work?
