Hey what's up guys,

Ive had my Apple bluetooth keyboard and trackpad for years now. One of my only issues with them, is how fast they eat through AA batteries.

Been practicing disconnecting from them, and bluetooth if I lets say go out. Or know I won't be using my laptop for the evening. But still?!

Are there any settings I'm missing? or methods while not in use to conserve batteries? Just curious other experiences.

Thanks in advance!

What kind of batteries are you using and how long do they last? I own some earlier versions of Apple BT keyboards and trackpads and haven't found them to be overly power hungry.

Are you possibly introducing interference or using them at long distances? If you make them work harder then yes they'll need more power.

Any chance to upgrade to the rechargeable versions?
Guess that's the "sensible" move...just trying to make what I have work better. If possible.

Just normal name brand AA. Cant say exactly how long they're lasting, never kept exact track. But they seem to always be needing replacement.

Interesting idea about interference, what do you think that would be?

Might start making sure to disconnect, before taking laptop in alternate room.

I just thought that it was possible you were using some low quality rechargeable batteries. Those will passively lose their charge pretty fast even without use, but I take it that you're using alkalines. Don't know what to say then. Everytime I've had alkaline batteries in my Apple Wireless keyboard and trackpad, it usually lasts at least a month and I forget to turn it off all the time.

BT interference is supposed to be rare, but I had it all the time with my 2016 MBP. Anytime the fans turned on, my trackpad would go wacky.
