Apple today launched its personalized 2025 Year in Review experience for Apple Books, featuring users' top books and audiobooks of the year.

Starting today, the 2025 Year in Review appears prominently inside the Home tab of the Apple Books app. The feature offers a personalized breakdown of each user's reading activity throughout the year, including total books completed, top genres, most-read authors, and month-by-month engagement.

Apple first introduced the Year in Review several years ago as a parallel to Apple Music Replay and other annual consumption summaries, and the company continues to refine the experience each year. The 2025 Year in Review displays reading trends in a visual timeline, graphs, and category-specific rankings.

Alongside the personalized recap, Apple has published its annual editorial lists highlighting the Best Books of 2025 and Best Audiobooks of 2025. These lists are curated by Apple Books' editorial team, are also featured inside the Home tab and include titles across fiction, nonfiction, memoir, thrillers, and new author debuts.

It's been quite the year for brilliant books, so much so that it's hard to know where to start when it comes to choosing your next read. But our editors are here to help with their carefully curated top picks of 2025. There's something for every taste and mood: revealing memoirs, compelling crime and thrillers, sizzling romances, hotshot new names, trusty old favourites and so much more. This year's Best Books of 2025 list includes titles such as 1929 by Andrew Ross Sorkin, Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy, Don't Let Him In by Lisa Jewell, Mother Mary Comes to Me by Arundhati Roy, Presumed Guilty by Scott Turow, Arcana Academy by Elise Kova, King Sorrow by Joe Hill, and Motherland by Julia Ioffe.

For audiobooks, Apple highlights 1929 by Andrew Ross Sorkin, The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig, Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy, Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, The Proving Ground by Michael Connelly, Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall, Buckeye by Patrick Ryan, and The Next Conversation by Jefferson Fisher.

How about Apple make it easier for us to organize books???

Allow me to be able to view my whole library AND a collection at the same time (in separate windows) on a mac so I can know if I need to add an item from my library to a collection or if it has already been added.

I love Apple Books for reading but for managing an ebook collection it is really subpar.

Yes. I do this too - as an ePub reader on an iPhone or iPad it's nicer than any of alternatives I've tried - I just load the epub files into the app via the Files app on the device.

Since the introduction, I have purchased approximately 500 books and continue to do so. Initially, outside the United States, books without copyrights, such as “Moby Dick,” could only be „purchased“. They were part of the Gutenberg Foundation.

This was because the payment system was not implemented for foreign currencies. Wasn‘t it one of the first store on the iPad.

Nice!!! 462 books here.

I still borrow heavily from Libby and read in Kindle - one can marke unowned books as finished in Apple Books. Just an fyi to us Apple Book users (to keep track of books read on other platforms).

I much prefer Apple Books especially now that we can customize margins - asked for this feature for years and years - finally got it :).

Apple needs to offer something similar to Kindle unlimited and audible subscription.
 
I have some audio books on Apple Books, those are all gifts from people. I do love audio books but I use Audible simply because of their subscription purchase. $15 a month for 1 title, any title no matter what the cost. I pick long 20+ hour books and go through one a month during my commute, works out perfectly.

I have been using iPads since the iPad 3 and been reading books on them since. I believe it was around 2018 when I started using a Japanese PET film matte screen protector (iCarez) and that was a game changer for me. (I don't use white background so the grainy look didn't bother me) - I read for years on black background and white text. Felt just like a Kindle.

Now that I'm 40... my eyes don't like that so much so I use the tan background (or green background with Kindle app) with my nano-texture iPad and it's heaven. :p

But yeah, the Kindle Paperwhite is amazing on the eyes. Just wish it was easier to highlight and do other things with it. (I love being able to read magazines, websites, etc with my iPad - and I highlight profusely).
 
I just wish Apple can bring back the library interface from macOS 11...list view and the ability to edit tags of the books.

I occasionally use the Kindle App on my iPad Mini or Pro if I do not have my Kindle, but if I have my Kindle with me I use it every time for reading books. I know Apple is not likely to ever release an e-ink reader due to the smaller market, but if they did I would immediately buy it. I will likely buy the new Kindle Scribe once it is released.

Good to know. Don't use it much so not sure what the highlights will look like for me. Looks like a lot of recaps/yearly reviews are being launched just at the right time.
