Hi all,

I've just set up my 2020 MBP I bought and left while my old one gave up so I'm just setting it up now. I'm logged into my apple account and iCloud and iCloudDrive are all on and the books app is toggled on within the settings. I'm in the books app and none of the books I've added on my old laptop/phone are there. Do they just take a while to download/sync across?

Usually, if I add a book from my files, it is there and I can see it on my phone right away and vice-versa.

I'd like my books on my new laptop without having to add them all again.

Can anyone help?

Thanks :)

B.

Lets divide books in Books into two categories:
  1. Books which you have purchased (or free) from the Apple book store. These are available/shared on all your devices.
  2. Other books (PDF, EPUB) which exist (or existed) as files on your Mac and added to the Books app. These are not shared in the Books app via iCloud.
For the second category you will need to copy them as files by some other means from old to new Mac. For example, file sharing or iCloudDrive.
