After the new update I can no longer download purchased books on Apple Books. Error: "Unable to download" and "1004". Already tried rebooting both the MacBook and the router but no luck. Anyone else experiencing that?

Not precisely that error but I suddenly have encountered a consistent crashing error with Books app.

EDIT: new day, no problem. Nothing on this end changed at all since my posting below, so my situation must have been something on Apple's end... Anyway it was fun spending two hours messing around in the wee hours trying to get one book purchase onto a laptop and ending up with it on some other laptop (one too old to sync to my other stuff) plus two or three of my mobile devices in the process of trying to debug something in Cupertino LOL.

Previously:

Books under Mojave is now crashing out with a segmentation fault when I am attempting to buy another book, download a book I already bought from the cloud, or run any of the available updates that are displayed by pressing the little arrow in the upper right corner of the Library window of the Books app). It either happens when I press on the buy button after supplying my password, or pressing on the cloud symbol to download a book i already bought, or pressing on that update arrow. It's immediate. like BLAM.

It only happens on one of my two laptops, a mid-2012 13" MBP. I'm not having any other crashes or problems with that laptop, i.e. I can buy iTunes movies and music with that same Apple ID and associated plastic, etc. Also I don't have a problem buying or downloading any books via Books app on my mobile devices. And, I didn't have a problem buying a book for the same Apple ID in Books app on my other laptop, an older one not running Mojave but El Capitan.

Can't figure out what the problem is on the newer laptop. I have run Disk First Aid to ensure there are no weird permission errors etc.

I'd reinstall the app if it weren't one of those ones that's entwined with Mojave... is that correct or is there a way around that? Is there some way to ditch a possibly corrupt preferences file for Books app and let it be recreated on a next launch? Trying to think of other old tricks when stuff starts crashing for no apparent reason and everything else seems to be working ok.
