Apple boosts Power Mac G5 to dual-2.5GHz

According to Macworld.co.uk it was leaked on the UK site earlier...

Apple is about to announce "The new Power Mac G5".

According to information that was briefly posted on Apple's UK Web site briefly, the new Power Mac G5 will include dual processors across the board at up to 2.5GHz PowerPC G5, and a new liquid-cooling system and 8x DVD-R SuperDrive.

It will be priced from £1,449 including VAT

I agree, I want 3.0GHz, but 1449 for a dual 2.5 is fantastic!

well in all fairness to him, he did revise his original statement at Paris from 'within 12 months' to 'by the end of next summer'.

if IBM can't make 'em, then Apple can't ship 'em.

can't wait to see the benchmarks though.

maybe so, but it sure is better then waiting a year for 100 mhz like we got from motostink. plus we know IBM is working on all kinds of new goodies.

I wonder how long until the "Apple is going down!!!!!" comments.

I'm extremely happy with my Dual G5 (ancient top of the line ), but i might consider buying this one to replace my ancient PB 550Mhz at the office. We shall see... I'm very interested in the Liquid cooling, thats for sure! If this G5 is already extremely quiet (except that stupid PSU chirping) this new one should be fantastic!
