I found a really good deal on one of these and decided to purchase it. Reading on here it seems not to be as quick as some of the other SSD's out there. Are they really that bad?

Model number is:
Toshiba SSD THNS512GG8BBAA

I'm on a 5400rpm 750gb and figured it would make quite a difference to me anyway.

I don't really get the TRIM thing tbh. Can I just format it like a normal drive and install everything as per usual?

I do lots of video and 3D motion graphic work so hope these will help this process. Really appreciate people's opinions on these drives.....

Holy crap is that the 512gb one? That must've cost a fortune even with a good deal!

Anyway, with it being Apple branded, it should have trim enabled anyway - no mucking about with it so not to worry on that aspect.

It's not such a bad drive in all fairness looking at speeds. It's not the fastest, but it's definitely not a bad drive, so don't worry about that. The difference between a HDD and an SSD is phenomenal, there's not much more difference between a good SSD and an amazing SSD.

thanks guys. was a bit worried after reading some of the previous thread on here.

looking forward to a quicker drive than my current 5400rpm..:)
