My bumper has been on for a while and I noticed today that my aluminum on my iPhone 4 is wearing, I've heard that apple will replace a phone if damage is due to their product

You can try to get Apple to replace it, however, I don't think they will. My bumper is doing the same thing. Dirt gets trapped between the bumper and the phone and causes the abrasions. To me it isn't a big deal.

The band is stainless steel, not aluminum.

As per the markings over time, see my sig line. I'm quite serious.

There have been people who have gotten a replacement because of this issue, but it isn't certain that you will get your iPhone fixed/replaced.

yes, but not due to customer negligence, which is what your iPhone's "damage" is from.

besides, the damage is purely cosmetic and isnt due to a manufacturing fault, further negating your claim.

I've had the bumper on my iPhone since they gave out free ones. Yes, I also have the scratches, and there are quite a few of them. Does it irritate me? Yes, but it's not ruining the features of the phone and as long as the bumper is on the phone I don't notice it anyways.

Purchase a spectra wrap and then place the bumper over it. That's what I did to prevent any further damage from the bumper. They're $10 for a three pack.

I went back to naked because of the stupid scratches, no point of the bumper if it doesnt hurts more than helps. I also have a carbon back "sticker" (it has a carbon texture to it, but its nylon) to protect the back glass from scratches, and it looks cooler.

Your best bet would be contacting AppleCare (1-800-APL-CARE) and politely asking them if they would replace your iPhone. Try to mention that this occurred from normal use of your iPhone and your bumper.

AppleCare generally wants to help make you happy. As long as you keep a calm but firm tone, you should get good results.
