I love the look of the bumper, but I have a bunch of cords and accessories that simply don't fit into the dock connector because they are too big. Be warned if you buy the bumper you are almost restricted to using the oem apple cable for everything.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

Ouch!

My Bose headphone cord fits (though it also fit into the recessed original iPhone headphone jack). But I found that my car charger won't fit into the dock connector with the bumper.

Not sure if I agree with the title but I get what you're getting at.

I think it sucks more because I don't trust it to protect the phone. It feels like there is not enough stiffness and rubber to prevent a shatter if you drop it. I'd stick to a regular case.

Every case is like this.... all you need is an adapter. My Switcheasy case for ipod touch came with one for free.

You don't want something stiff, you want something that absorbs the blow without passing all of it through the phone. It's why cars these days are built with the concept of actually intentionally failing in specific areas during a crash, to deflect or absorb the impact energy in the car, and not in you.
