So I was curious what I could fetch for the 2019 iMac 3.7 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5 and went onto Apple Canada and answered the trade-in queries.

My Mac is immaculate and I checked off the boxes as such...

Instead of a dollar amount, I get the message:

"Based on what you’ve told us, your Mac is ready to recycle. Progress 100% It’s a big win for the planet. Recycling your device helps replenish resources and drive innovation."

Are they not buying back Intel Macs now?

Their program is a joke. I can't think of any logical reason to use it. Its their "Cash for Clunkers" program that is basically just an attempt to clear up the used Mac market.

Thats weird, I just ran one of the 2019 iMac Serial numbers on both the UK and the Canada store page, i think their serial look-up system is dead. But after choosing the specs, both sites gave me a trade-in value (albeit pretty low ones)

Whats the serial for your iMac?

They offered me $400 for my 2014 27-incher. It would probably fetch closer to $800 on eBay.

Yah, never trade into Apple - Phobio who processes them are not very good and will find a way to devalue your trade even more.

Sell it privately, eBay or OfferUP...

exactly. every single time ive tried to go through apple I get downgraded. The only time I did not was when I traded in an old iPhone in store when purchasing a new one...hm.

I would try it again. I accidentally answered “No” to the swelling question.

Tried again, with “yes” and they offered me $140 for my late 2012 27” iMac. I was going to recycle it anyways. So good news that it will partially pay the sales tax.

Macofalltrades ---> Macmeanoffer

Use it. It's legit. Have sold tons of Macs to them without ANY hassle on the offer price and have bought Macs from them.

Update: Seems the site has been fixed -

It is offering $1,329 for a 2019 I spent close to $3100 on.

While the convenience of getting rid of it or putting that to a new Mac directly is a benefit, I think that’s a low-ball buyback. But I do hate trying to sell privately as there’s never a guaranteed it will sell.

What’s a reasonable selling price (Canadian) given the specs (see first post)?

I found similar sold on eBay for close to $2000 USD which is almost $2500 Canadian. But you never know. Depending on RAM and HD size I'd say it's worth a good bit more than the trade-in offer.

My 2018? Mac Mini has $320 value so maybe you did something wrong?

Edit: looks like the issue was resolved.
