Have had the Apple Card for a few days now, including the physical card. Flawless thus far. I think you do need the physical card, at least in the United States. There still are many places where Apple Pay isn't readily available. Yeah, people do a double- or triple-take when you first hand them the Apple Card, it's still really new, mostly unseen, definitely looks different, and feels different too, but it's a simple transaction after the initial look.

So far, no problems with merchants accepting and using the Apple Card. The physical card is great, and Apple's Wallet app really shines in conjunction with the Apple Card. Every time you make a purchase, the transaction immediately pops up. And Wallet + Apple Card shows all transactions in an easy-to-read and easy-to-understand format clearly and plainly listing transactions -- similar to your other cards in Wallet, but a bit better visually. Balance, payments, activity, etc. are a button press away while the Apple Card is selected in Wallet.

Tap the three dots in the right hand corner of the Wallet app while your Apple Card is selected, and it brings up all the information you need about the Apple Card. The software and interface is fast, clean, slick, no pauses or stutters or slowdowns you sometimes get with other payment apps. Pretty good execution for a new service, I'd say.

Only thing I haven't done yet is pay the balance owed. We'll see how that goes when it's due.

I know some people have had problems getting approved, validated, or activating the Apple Card, others are having transaction problems. But I imagine there's a silent majority for whom the initial rollout has been excellent and meets the expectations we have for Apple products and services. I'll be using this card for a long time to come.

It's funny, I used to just swipe a physical card 90% of the time and use Apple Pay only when I forgot my card or wallet.

Now with the Apple Card, I am actually looking at the terminal for the Apple Pay or wireless contact logo to pay from the phone - mainly because you get 2% back instead of 1%....
