Just wondering if it is possible to buy Apple care from another country's store. For example in the UK MBP 16 apple care costs 399GBP. On the Chinese store the same product costs 235GBP. Any ideas if it is possible to buy the lower cost option even if I live in the UK?

Not any more, since it's no longer a physical product/code.

To add applecare after purchase now, you need to do it via Apple support, and they'll charge in your local currency.

Not even if I call up that country's apple support?

I’ve had people try to use foreign purchased AppleCare here in the U.S. and it has been rejected every time. The response has always been to the effect of only valid in the country that it was purchased in. The places of purchase were the UK, China, and Japan.

We were told to tell the client that they could ship the unit back to the country of origin to have the work done. Just don’t expect fast turn-around...
