Has anyone ever canceled their applecare coverage within the 60 days window of having your new device to successfully change the billing date on the device?

I’m second guessing a service rep because I have been screwed like that in the past where they told me something similar but I ended up losing coverage completely on an iPad so im
Hesitant when they mentioned that, I thought they could adjust the billing date on their end 🤷 thanks!
 
I think once it’s cancelled, that’s it.
This is exactly what happened last time with an iPad when I tried transferring coverage, I don’t know if they have a new method or tactics but I thought maybe something changed! Thanks
