iPad apple care??

so the other day i had a bad experience at the apple store so i called and told them the problem i had with my ipad the lady said she talked to her supervisor and he said that they would send me out a new one once i send mine in, today i got this email saying there sending back my original i am confused?? they told me they would replace it and send a complete new one :(
