I buy it for all computers, but not for ipods or anything else. It's a nice feeling of security, but on peripherals, I take my chances.

Well, Ive never owned a desktop but so I had to go with the 'only on a laptop' option. Even if I did have a desktop, I'd have to give applecare a good long look.

Since this will be my first Mac, I will be purchasing APP a few months after I receive the Macbook cause of limited funds right now.

It definitely helps the resale value if you're a frequent "upgrader" who likes to hop to the newest equipment.

Didn't buy it for my G5. I did buy it for my PowerBook, and good thing I did because about 2 weeks after the standard 1 year expired, I had to get the inverter board replaced, so AppleCare paid for itself.
