To celebrate 10 years of the Apple Watch's Activity ring feature this month, Apple today revealed a limited-edition "Global Close Your Rings Day" award.

Apple wants users to "do something they love, push themselves further, or try something new" with an Apple Watch workout, and share what they did using the hashtag #CloseYourRings.

The original Apple Watch launched on April 24, 2015; Activity rings were a feature from day one. Apple's press release today highlights the impact of the Apple Watch on health and fitness over the past decade. Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams said:
Apple Watch has changed the way people think about, monitor, and engage with their fitness and health. A decade ago, we introduced Activity rings — and since then, Apple Watch has grown to offer an extensive set of features designed to empower every user. People write to us almost every day sharing how Apple Watch has made a difference in their life, from motivating them to move more throughout the day, to changing the trajectory of their health.

To obtain the exclusive digital award, users must close all three of their Activity rings on April 24. 10 animated stickers for the Messages app will also become available.

Customers can also obtain a special physical pin inspired by the award at Apple Stores around the world starting April 24, while supplies last.

I feel like they could do a lot more with those rings. Also: Did Apple really remove the fireworks animation when you close all 3 rings?
I haven't updated yet... did they really? did they tone down the animations?? ... that would suck, the were my favorite part of the whole thing... although, triggering some would be kind of a hassle.. a new calorie record animation or the animation of closing all three rings (or all of one ring 7 days of the week) at the end of the week, you'd need to like, end your workout, quickly open the Activity app so one animation would pop, followed by the other.. instead of all at the same time with no animation. You'd think they'd prioritize the rarer animations over the common ones but attention to detail has seemingly been lost to Apple over the past few years.

I ordered mine as soon as pre orders went live, but didn’t get it until the 28th.

Animated stickers for Messages... I send messages to 1 person in Messages, everything else goes over Signal, so, meh!

And the physical pin sounds nice, just there aren't any stores that aren't a day trip - 3-4 hours each way. We used to have a Gravis here, which provided the template for the Apple Stores, but due to the way Apple changed its trading terms with retailers, they went out of business last year...

Just passed 3500 closed Move rings. Wish I could go to an Apple store for the pin.
I just passed 1,176 movement rings and 1,174 all rings, I was ill in February and failed to close my movement ring by 1 calorie on 1 day, making my first missed day in over 18 months! 😭

3,500 is dedication!

Congrats, that's a lot of rings. To miss it by 1 calorie on 1 day really sucks.

I'm 3108 out of 3200. Not bad. I either walk a few miles every day or do full workouts. It's those days after a marathon, when I have the flu, or days with a brutal hangover that I occasionally miss. I really do enjoy the watch for the health benefits.
Nice work! It's always the days when I'm sick that get me.

Nope, you still get a special light show when you close all three rings... a "Catherine Wheel" spinning effect with sparks shooting off.

Another badge, I’m at 3,214 all rings closed so it is going to be easy for me …
The pin? Wouldn’t know what to do with it …

I still think I might get another Apple watch now the series 10 is thinner but I turn off all the health stuff 😂. I literally have 0 interest in fitness.
