Hi there,

I go to college in Lexington, virginia which is conveniently located 135 miles from the nearest Apple store. Most of my friends turn to me because I am among a few on campus who are savvy enough to understand OS X. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but I was wondering if it is worth getting mac certified. In addition to legitimizing myself as a real help on campus, is there any other worth to it?

I don't recall what the cost was for the certs, but if you are only gonna use it to drum up campus business, it might not be really worth it. If you do have the experience, you can use the word-of-mouth of your friends, maybe even make a flyer with the detachable email address/phone so people can use your services.

Does your school have a computer center where they could hire you to do this work? if you are looking for something more predictable that is.

If you want to do hardware repairs, that is when the cert would be a must.
