Is it possible to run the PS3 through a Cinema 23" display?

I have searched through some previous posts, and it seems like you, at least used to, have to use some sort of converter box. Is this still the case? Most of the posts I saw were from 2006 / 2007, so I'm not sure if a PS software update or something has changed the game.
 
You still need a converter as far as I know.

Edit: Upon further research, it seems that you would still need a converter due to the 23" ACD not being HDCP compliant.
