Apple Cinema Display 23' A1082 - Dithering visible in the blue

Just picked up an ACD 23' A1082 - second hand. And I'm seeing some subtle but very visible 'lined' dithering in the vivid bright blues. Can anyone confirm if this normal in this panel? Or was I sold a defective?

I was under the impression that these were 8 bit IPS displays. I did expect to see 'some' shimmering, but not any color dithering.

I'll try and get a picture; They're very subtle, but noticeable, vertical lines in the blue colour.
