Apple Cinema Display LED (27-Inch) with various laptops

i need a display to use with:

2009 MacBook Pro
Surface Book (mini displayport)
possible future MacBook Pro (usb-c)

Am i right in saying that the 2010 Mini Displayport Cinema Display will work with all 3 (albeit with dongles for the new MacBook Pro if/when i get one)?

It won't be used for gaming so fantastic spec is not essential but I want something well built (ideally aluminium) that will look good on my study desk.

As long as you have the right cables and adapters for all machines that setup should work without any problems.
