Why because montior speakers are general pretty crappy to being with. And even teh speakers in the iMac I think are crap. They are to limited by size to really be very good.
If apple did that more people would no longer consider the apple monitor a viable option for monitor. They dont want speakers in it. As I said monitor speakers are complete crap including the iMacs. I stick with my 2.1 speaker system any day. Much cleaner sound and there is a sub to cover the low end (Adn ti not the deep thumping sound. It just makes the low notes sound better)

I'd rather they added a third FW port and provided anyone who bought a display or two with a discount to get a stand alone isight for free or at a big saving.
For desktop use having the camera separate is much more useful anyway.

I reckon Apple won't put iSight into the Cinema Displays for two reasons:
1. As a professional product, especially where there a certain proportion of customers will be using dual monitors, I reckon Apple will reason that it wouldn't be practical or aesthetic to include iSight into the panels (also think of the fact the panels would likely be off-centre, with no way of adjusting the camera's view).
2. Why would you spend £90 on an external iSight camera, unless you wanted much better quality, which puts it into the professional bracket anyway, where you can buy accessories for the iSight such as a light, and it's fully adjustable.
Overall, Apple would likely find sales of the external iSight camera would drop and would 'spoil' an otherwise uncluttered design. A price drop though... we can only hope on that one (except me, I've just bought a second one!)

I think the speakers inside the iMac are amazing. I even had one of my PC friends comment that they sounded better than his surround-sound.Timepass said:
If Apple could add speakers to the ACDs without charging more or adding anymore bulk, then I say go for it. If you don't want to use them, don't plug them in and you'd never know they were there.

But the reason I think this would be great is that you generally use ACDs with Power Macs, which don't have very good sound (and aren't meant to). If you move around (i.e. coming home from college) and you don't want to set all your speakers up because you'll be leaving again in two months, it would make sense to have decent speakers in your monitor for a simple setup that will get you by in the meantime.
But yeah I think it's more important that Apple drive down the costs a bit more.. I went with a ViewSonic 20" because it was less than half the cost of the 20" ACD (even with educational pricing), and the image quality is just as good (possibly better). Plus, the ViewSonic VX2025wm is one of the few non-Apple flat panel displays that is acceptable in appearance (to me). Haha.
no isight, no speakers, just a nice clean flat panel. both would only add bulk, and would sound like garbage. if you want speakers in your monitor for some reason, go with any other brand. if you want a webcam, for gods sake break a 20 and get yourself one. external ones are fully adjustable which already makes them better than a built in.
i think they need to be more adjustable and definitely support rotation to work in portrait mode. and a 17" to put them into a bigger niche. maybe a built in isight on the 17" because it wouldn't be so targeted to pro users.

If they put an iSight on the CDs, then they probably wouldn't be the bezel mounted ones seen on the iMac, MB/P, etc. I'm think what they should do is make a smaller iSight with no cable, so there would be a firewire port on top, and the iSight would lie flush with the monitor, but still have an articulating arm, because the CD's are, well, big.
More USB/Firewire ports, Card Readers, and thinner, more bang for buck.

I read the thread title, and thought there would be a good idea in the first post.
The only thing I can think of that would reall make them better is the price drop. I mean, I don't really require a card reader too often, but having a usb port on the monitor would be a simple connection to the ACD and comptuer. Speakers aren't a great idea because of the mentioned ideas before. A component input with adapters (for S-Video and composite) would be useful. In my opinion, that (and price) is all that the Dell really has over the ACD, and the ACD is infinitely more beautiful.

It's entirely possible, I just assumed that because the external iSight had a much more substantial lens that it would be of higher quality. I have to admit I've never actually used an iSight but I'm not sure I'd want them built into Cinema Displays.
Minimalist design works so well, I think its a shame to clutter an otherwise amazing design with a black spot at the top

Your buddy's surround sound system must SUCK. Granted, the iMac speakers are good for built-in systems, but are nothing compared to externals.
The ACDs look great, they have a small bezel and they are pretty simplistic. I DON'T want to buy one thing that does two things okay, I want to buy ONE thing that does ONE task well, period.
