I just went to Apple.com and noticed that the site was down. The only message I get is the following:

"http/1.1 Service Unavailable"

I attempted to access the site from various mediums including over the AT&T data network (eliminating the possibility of it being a local problem) over my iPhone. Did any of the rest of you notice anything similar?

UPDATE: Wow, still down... and its now 1:34. Been down for atleast 7 minutes. Also, just so no one is confused... the U.S. store appears to be unnaffected. The problem is just with apple.com and dotmac from what I can tell.

UPDATE: Apple.com is back up as of 1:36 (CT)

Same here. Something's definitely up at Apple.com... hope they didn't get hacked or something like that. Hopefully, it's just a server power outage.

Yeah, i couldn't find the right thread for this, Apple.com and Mac.com were giving me the "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable" error, its all back up now though.

At least we didn't get a Microsoft error page from Apple's site!

Here's a pic for people that didnt see it...

Still though, 8-9 minutes is a long time for a site like Apple's to be down.

I think its more amazing that anyone actually cares. Servers break all the time, its just the way it works.

Wow. If only Apple would have known as much about servers as you do! They could have avoided this whole mess just by having some backup servers ready in the waiting!
